WaiVers

All passengers on the Peace are required to complete a waivers prior to departure. If the passenger is a minor, the forms must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian does not need to be aboard the Peace to fill out and sign the forms.

Waivers can be filled out up to 30 days before the trip. Waivers must be completed by all passengers and verified by the crew prior to departure. Filling out waivers prior to boarding can speed up this process. Repeat passengers must complete a new waiver for each trip which includes the date for that trip. The date to enter in the date attending field is the first dive day of the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We have 2 different ways to sign up for a trip on board the Peace. You may sign up with us directly on our website for our Open Boat Scuba and Open Boat Free Diving Trips. The easiest way to find our trips is to visit our schedule tab, directly under the calendar are scheduling links where you can buy tickets. These trips are booked directly through us and we offer a few of them throughout the year, but most of our trips are offered by dive shops, dive clubs and private groups and are identified on our calendar with the name of the shop in the title. Click on the trip for more info on the trip and for the Name, Phone Number and Website (if available) for the group that is chartering that trip. If that info is listed then the group welcomes you to call them directly for more info, to sign up and book the trip with them directly. Please note that each charter group trip has different sign-up procedures, cancelation rules and diving expectations. We recommend that you contact the group directly for more information about a trip that you might be interested in.

  • Divers should bring a current, legible, and valid diver certification card (air card) from a recognized certification agency. The Peace accepts certifications from PADI, SSI, SEI, or NAUI. Digital or physical cards are accepted. Divers certified by any other organization should confirm in advance that their certifying agency is recognized/certified by WRSTC, and be prepared to show this information to the divemaster at boarding. Certifications cards from certifying agencies that no longer exist may or may not be accepted on a case by case basis. To ensure divers are familiar with current industry best safety practices, the Peace recommends divers with older certifications to seek out a current certification.

All divers will be required to present their card regardless of prior diving aboard the boat. Divers who do not present their card(s) will not be allowed to purchase Nitrox and/or dive.

  • Day trips can accommodate up to 32 passengers. Overnight trips allow 24 passengers due to bunk space limitations. 4 day or longer trips may have limited capacities. Inquire for details. For charter pricing, please email peacediveboat@gmail.com. For an individual spot on one of our Open Boats, please select a trip in our schedule tab.

  • The crew works hard to make your trip enjoyable and a majority of their income comes from tips. If you feel inclined, 20% of your ticket price is a customary and appropriate tip amount. Cash is deposited in the tip jar on the galley counter. We also accept venmo @peacediveboat (please put “TIP” and the date in the title).

  • A child of any age counts a passenger for the maximum passenger capacity.  For overnight trips, every passenger must be able to sleep in a bunk by themselves.

For all open boat trips of any length, or any trips that include an overnight stay, passengers under the age of 10 are not permitted.

All children under the age of 6 must wear a life jacket at all times while on board. Children under the age of 10 must wear a life jacket at all times except while inside the galley, head, or bunkroom. Children under the age of 10 must be continuously supervised by an adult. The supervising adult must not be diving, sleeping, or in any way unavailable to supervise the child during the trip.

As PADI recommends, children under the age of 10 will not be allowed to dive.

Any passenger under the age of 16 must be accompanied on the trip by a parent or legal guardian. Any passenger under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The dive shop, club, or other group is responsible for the conduct of all passengers on their charter. Any passenger that creates an unsafe condition may result in the charter being canceled. Violations of this policy may result in the charter being canceled without refund.

  • On single day trips, boarding begins at 6 AM on the day of departure.

On overnight trips, boarding is the night before departure. Typically, boarding begins around 7 PM with the Captain’s permission. All passengers must be aboard by 9PM for the mandatory safety briefing. Passengers who are not at the safety briefing may be denied boarding.

  • Unless otherwise noted or prompted by weather, day trips board at 6 AM and depart 7 AM SHARP. Please be on board thirty minutes before your departure time at the latest, our mandatory safety briefing takes place fifteen minutes before departure. Overnight trips board at 9:00 PM SHARP, except Clemente/Cortes Bank trips which board at 7 PM. We ask everyone be on time for the mandatory coast guard safety briefing.

  • All destinations and departure times are subject to change depending decisions made by the Captain on weather and sea conditions. Unfortunately, we are not able to predict what the weather will be like for an upcoming trip. The crossing to the islands may be rough, but there are many places the boat can hide from the weather so that your diving is still enjoyable. The Captain will not place the passengers or the boat in danger. The local marine forecast is checked prior to the departure of all trips, unfortunately, as with any weather forecast, conditions can change in a matter of minutes. The Captain will make the final determination as to the destination and departure times, for the safety of all aboard.

Our captains have many years of experience in our oceans and they pay close attention to the weather forecasts. With the forecasts and their expertise they decide when and if a trip needs to be canceled for the safety of our passengers. Weather forecasts can be wrong and can change, so it is important to trust our captains' experience. Our boat is large and the islands offer a great deal of protection, so even if the weather report does not seem ideal we can still find great diving in protected areas of the islands. We do still run our trips if there is rain as we do have a large galley and other amenities to offer protection from the rain and to keep warm.

We do not cancel trips because we can’t get to the specific area your group wanted to go to. If we can’t go to the area you wanted to go to, we will go somewhere else that is safer.

  • We are located at 1691 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura CA 93001, just south of the Island Packers building at dock E-16. For detailed maps and parking information, see our contact page.

Remember that when you are purchasing your fishing license that we are south of Point Arguello and are required to have an Ocean Enhancement Stamp, except on the 1 and 2 Day Licenses.

Each diver/passenger is responsible for all game he/she takes, including the legal size, possession limits and applicable season. DO NOT SHOOT OR TAKE GAME AND THEN ASK WHAT IT IS! If you are not sure, please ask BEFORE taking game, our knowledgeable crew will be happy to assist you, as several species of California’s marine life are protected! The PEACE is well known for its hunters, therefore the Department of Fish and Game frequently boards the boat during and/or after a trip. The PEACE will not be responsible if you are caught and fined for taking illegal game. Live game can be stored in the game tank located on the back deck. You may leave your game in your bag or place it directly into the game tank. Please be sure your game bag is marked with your name and/or initials for easy identification, as most game bags look alike! If you bring an ice chest on board to store your game in, please be sure to bring your own ice as well. Your cooperation is appreciated.

  • All divers must sign the Liability Release form and Waiver form before being allowed to enter the water. Minors are all required to have a parent or guardian sign our form. • The PEACE provides tanks racks along the sides and middle section of the back deck. Dive bags and/or dive storage containers can be stored underneath the benches and along the sides of the boat, as well as the bow. If you are not sure where to put your bags, please ask a crew member to assist you. Spear guns and pole spears should be stored (unloaded) in the Portside and Starboard side gun racks located on the back transom. Please do not store them in the center live game tank. If you tend to get queasy, don’t forget your seasick medication! Remember, if you take it as your boarding the boat, that’s too late! One to two hours before departure is recommended. The PEACE normally carries a supply of aspirin/ibuprofen, and has a fully stocked first-aid kit in case of emergencies.

  • Searching for, storing, and paying crew to retrieve and return abandoned property has become a large expense for the Peace. As a result, we reluctantly have had to change our lost and found policy.

As stated in the waiver signed by all passengers as they board, the Peace does not inventory or store abandoned property. Abandoned property is placed in an unsecured location on the dock for passenger retrieval. Email peacediveboat@gmail.com for instructions on how to check for your property.

If you left something and you want Peace crew to search for it, we can facilitate hiring crew to attempt to locate and ship your item to you. In addition to paying for the crew's time, if your item is found there will be an additional fee to package and ship the item to you. If you want to do this, email us at peacediveboat@gmail.com.

The Peace is not responsible for any items left aboard after a charter.

  • The PEACE provides single bunks and 5 double bunks (dividers can be placed to make them singles), sleeping up to 24 people. Each bunk has its own privacy curtain and individual light. Passengers are advised to bring a sleeping bag and pillows/blankets for their comfort. In order to keep our bunk room dry and comfortable, no wet bathing suits, wet dive equipment or wetsuits are permitted below decks. We do have (2) 110 volt outlets available in the bunk room ONLY for medical devices, like a CPAP machine. We recommend that you bring an extension cord to make sure that you can comfortably access the outlet. We do not allow charging of other devices in the bunk room for fire safety concerns, but we have ample outlets in the galley for charging personal devices. Please check the Bunk Assignment sheet before you settle into a bunk. We recommend that all single passengers (those traveling alone) take a single bunk and couples (or those who don't mind bunking together) take a double bunk (available in the center line only, only 5 bunks are usable as doubles).

  • The Peace may offer Starlink internet service to passengers. This service is not guaranteed

Increasingly, cellular phone service is available at the islands. From our experience, Verizon and T-Mobile tend to have the best coverage. The Peace does not maintain specific information on where service cellular phone is available. Depending on the location, there may be no cell service available. Please consult your carrier for coverage information.

Working charters such as film productions or research charters can contact us for information on accessing Starlink for an additional cost.

  • Due to the Conception fire, we are required to have a Captain on board as well as a nightwatchman working whenever someone is sleeping on board. This is a difficult expense when it comes to single day trips. There are also laws about making sure the staff working the next day is properly rested, which means we really shouldn't use the same Captain for the night shift as well as the day shift. We do want to offer this service as the old owner did before the business was sold in 2020, but we hope you understand our difficulties. When we have enough staff to offer this service, you all will be notified. If you absolutely must have this in order to run your trip, please reach out to us at least 3 months beforehand so we can try to arrange the staff in ample time.
