Nitrox
new process starting july 2024
Purchasing Nitrox should only be done as a part of the boarding process. Nitrox purchased before arriving at the boat may not be eligible for a refund if there is a problem.
Our system
The Nuvair Nitrox System uses semi permeable membranes to produce O2 rich air (NITROX). The NITROX at up to 40% O2 can then be compressed for delivery to divers.
Low pressure air (200psi-300psi) is fed to the hollow membrane fibers. All the oxygen molecules pass through the hollow fiber walls but only some of the nitrogen molecules move through resulting in up to 40% nitrox! This oxygen rich air is then mixed with ambient air to get the Peace nitrox blend.
Diver Requirements
Divers should bring a current, legible, and valid Nitrox certification card from a recognized certification agency in order to get Nitrox fills. The Peace accepts Nitrox certifications from PADI, SSI, SEI, or NAUI. Digital or physical cards are accepted. Divers with certifications from other agencies should confirm in advance that their certifying agency is recognized/certified by WRSTC, and be prepared to show this information to the crew. Certification cards from certifying agencies that no longer exist may or may not be accepted on a case by case basis. To ensure divers are familiar with current industry best safety practices, the Peace recommends divers with older certifications to seek out a more current certification.
All certifying agencies require that divers analyze their own tank mix prior to diving. Due to the nature of the Peace’s NITROX system, no blend specifications are guaranteed. Peace NITROX blends typically vary from approximately 26% to 33%. A NITROX analyzer is normally provided by the PEACE. However, since the analyzer is freely available for passenger use, and must be properly adjusted by the user, the PEACE make no warranty as to the accuracy of results produced by the analyzer. NITROX divers are strongly encouraged to use their own NITROX analyzers to test their own fills. Divers are ultimately responsible for knowing the mix of their breathing air, and safely diving within their certifying agency’s established limits.
Each tank to be filled with Nitrox must be identified with a Nitrox identification tag, which will be issued to you by the boat during the boarding process.
Your tank is not required to be Nitrox clean.
Pricing
There are flyers on board the boat with current purchase information and instructions. Purchasing Nitrox should be done while on board the boat, as a part of the boarding process. You can either use your phone to complete the purchase, or the Peace has tablets available for use.
Please be aware that rate and payment types for Nitrox have changed in 2024. Cash is no longer accepted for Nitrox. Credit card and PayPal are accepted.
Nitrox is only purchased on a flat rate basis. 2024 flat rate pricing for the day includes unlimited fills of the same tank, for the same diver, during that day. Single day charters are $25, 2 day charters are $80, 3 day charters are $100, and 4 day charters are $120.
Nitrox is no longer available for only part of your trip. You must purchase the flat rate that matches the length of your entire trip. This means it is a much better deal to purchase Nitrox at the start of the trip, rather than wait until part way through. Single fill purchases are no longer available.
Present your Nitrox purchase or confirmation email, and certification card, to the divemaster when you check in on the boat.
